"He then began to teach them that the Son man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and He must be killed, and after three days rise again. He spoke plainly about this".
(Mark Ch 8 vs 31 and 32 ).
The journey to Jerusalem moves up a gear and Jesus begins to inform the disciples what will happen there. This will be no ordinary sight seeing trip to the capital but it is one that will have disastrous consequences for their Master. He tells them that He "must" suffer many things and that He "must" be killed. There is an inevitability about what He says.
He speaks plainly to them about what will happen and doesn't hide anything from them. He tells them the truth and how humbling for us to be aware that it was for us He hung and suffered there. But let us not lose sight of the final part of the Lord's pronouncement, " and after three days rise again!".
"Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so".
A prayer:- Lord, you hide nothing from us in Your Word. Help us to see that you had to suffer and to die for us that our sins might be forgiven. Amen.
