Just a few of the many folks who make up St Meddans....
Rev Andrew McGurk
Locum Minister
I’m Andrew: My wife, Sheila, and I have been married for over 50 years. I was Ordained into the Church of Scotland Ministry in June 1983. I served in Ministry for just under 10 years in New Cumnock Parish Church, and St John’s Parish Church in Largs for just under 20 years. In “retirement” I have continued in Ministry as Locum for 10 months at St Meddan’s Church in Troon, for 5 years as Locum at Loudoun Parish Church in Newmilns, and back again as Locum to St Meddan’s in mid 2019. I enjoy cycling and also gardening as time allows.
Jim McEwan
Church Officer
Hi I'm Jim - I took early retirement in 1995 after forty years service with Scotrail and the following year became Church Officer at St Meddans and am still enjoying it very much
Unfortunately in 2013 my wife of almost fifty years died of Cancer but luckily I have three very supportive children and four grandchildren and the St Meddans Staff and congregation.
Anne and I enjoyed travelling and had many holidays all over Great Britain and Europe. However when my son Scott and his family moved to Hong Kong after Anne’s death I was able to visit them on a regular basis over the next three years also taking in trips to Australia Singapore as well as exploring the Hong Kong islands and the New Territory’s up to the border of China
Sadly he now lives in Sussex and am afraid that Brighton and Eastbourne are no match for Kowloon or Melbourne and the long haul flights I enjoyed in Business Class courtesy of my Sons employer
