Just a few of the many folks who make up St Meddans....

Rev James Hogg

Interim Moderator

I'm James I'm a dad to Evie and Jack and husband to Helen. As well as a minister I also work in Air traffic. I love star wars, marvel and very green grass so when i'm not here i'll be watching movies or mowing the lawn.

Rev Andrew McGurk

Locum Minister

I’m Andrew: My wife, Sheila, and I have been married for over 50 years. I was Ordained into the Church of Scotland Ministry in June 1983. I served in Ministry for just under 10 years in New Cumnock Parish Church, and St John’s Parish Church in Largs for just under 20 years. In “retirement” I have continued in Ministry as Locum for 10 months at St Meddan’s Church in Troon, for 5 years as Locum at Loudoun Parish Church in Newmilns, and back again as Locum to St Meddan’s in mid 2019. I enjoy cycling and also gardening as time allows.

Elaine Rodger

Session Clerk

I'm Elaine- a lover of animals, folk and country music, the great outdoors - and God. And not necessarily in that order!  When not in or around church you may find me walking or cycling around this lovely area”

Helen Hogg

Family Worker

I'm Helen, I love to drink tea, read books and crochet. My role is to keep things fun for our children and families, to excite and encourage people to live life to the full just as Jesus taught us it could be.

Dr Kate Doak

Music Director

As well as a champion tea drinker Kate sky dives and parachutes leaving little time for anything else - she also left me to write this lol!

Jim McEwan

Church Officer

Hi I'm Jim - I took early retirement  in 1995 after forty years service with Scotrail and the following year became Church Officer at St Meddans and am still enjoying it very much

Unfortunately in 2013 my wife of almost fifty years died of Cancer but luckily I have three very supportive children and four grandchildren and the St Meddans Staff and congregation.

Anne and I enjoyed travelling and had many holidays all over Great Britain and Europe. However when my son Scott and his family moved to Hong Kong after Anne’s death I was able to visit them on a regular basis over the next three years also taking in trips to Australia Singapore as well as exploring   the Hong Kong islands and the New Territory’s up to the border of China

Sadly he now lives in Sussex and am afraid that Brighton and Eastbourne are no match for Kowloon or Melbourne and the long haul flights I enjoyed in Business Class courtesy of my Sons employer
